Officer met with complainant at the police department who wanted some information on dealing with a family member that may be having a behavioral emergency. Officer discussed complainant’s options and Officer advised complainant that given the examples, Officer could not force subject to seek help. It was determined that no crime was being committed by subject. Complainant was referred to West Jefferson Police Department (complainant’s local law enforcement agency) and MCDOJFS/APS for further assistance. Complainant was given advice to pass along to other family members with regards to possible Telecommunications Harassment against subject.

Parking Complaint

West Main St.

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to a parking complaint. Upon arrival, Officer spoke with the caller who advised that a black Cadillac SUV was parked in one of Plain City Computers Parking spaces for 45 minutes. Officer later made contact with the vehicle owner.  Vehicle owner apologized for parking in the spot. Officer advised vehicle owner to not park in any of PC Computers spaces unless he was a customer. Vehicle owner moved the vehicle without incident. Officer then returned to patrol.

Civil Dispute/Standby

Friend St.

Officer met with subject at the police department in reference to a civil standby. Subject advised that he was waiting for his ex-daughter-in-law to bring his grandson to the police department for a custody exchange. Officer stood by and ex-daughter-in-law never arrived. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to a missing female. The caller stated that a neighbor informed him that his girlfriend had just been arrested near their residence. Caller requested to speak with an Officer to see if she was in custody. Upon arrival, Officer made contact with caller and his girlfriend inside the business.  Caller stated that he had checked the area and located his girlfriend as she was walking. Caller apologized and stated that his neighbor must have been mistaken. Officer then returned to patrol.

911 Follow-up

South Jefferson Ave.

Officer was dispatched to the area of South Jefferson Avenue on a 911 wireless. Madison County Dispatch advised that the call plotted in the area there. Upon arrival, Officer was unable to locate the source of the call. Officer requested dispatch attempt to contact the number back to get a better location. Dispatch later advised the caller was at her residence at Plain City Georgesville Road and there were no issues there. Officer requested dispatch to contact Madison County Sheriff's Office and advise them. Officer then returned to patrol.

Traffic Stop

US Rt. 42 N

Officer was on patrol when Officer observed a silver Lexus sedan traveling northbound on US42 near West Ave. Officer then learned the vehicle had an expired registration.  Officer then initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.  Driver was advised of the violation and stated she was borrowing the vehicle from her boyfriend’s father.  Driver advised she had a new license plate, however, did not put them on yet due to the screws being rusted. While speaking with the driver Officer could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a probable cause search Officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the safe inside the vehicle.  The safe was confiscated along with the key, from the key ring. Driver was given a warning for Expired Tags and advised PCPD would make contact with her after a search warrant was executed on the safe. Officer was also given a warning for Curfew. Officer then returned to patrol.  Officer made contact with driver’s mother, advising her of this incident.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location referencing attempting to locate a vehicle owner for Columbus Police Department. Dispatch advised they found a 2003 RV in the roadway on the east side of Columbus. Officer made contact with subject’s son who advised the vehicle was sold several years ago and provided a contact number for vehicle owner. This information was forwarded to CPD. Officer then returned to patrol.

Subject advised that he was waiting for his ex-daughter-in-law to bring his grandson to the police department for a custody exchange. Traffic Stop

South Chillicothe St.

Officer observed a silver Dodge pick-up truck traveling northbound on South Chillicothe St near Main St. The vehicle did not appear to have a registration. Officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle operator/owner, Joseph Carter. Joseph was issued a traffic citation for No Valid OL and Failure to Transfer Registration. Joseph was given a verbal warning for Cracked Windshield and Failure to Display. Joseph’s vehicle was towed to the PCPD impound lot.  Joseph was given a courtesy ride to McDonalds.

Parking Complaint

Lantern Ln.

Officer was dispatched to the area of Lantern Lane in reference to several parking violations. The anonymous caller stated that there was a party going on and several vehicles were blocking the mailboxes. Officer patrolled the area and observed several vehicles, from Carriage Drive to South Chillicothe Street that were parked very close to the mailboxes. Officer made contact with the USPS of Plain City and was advised that they had already completed the route for Lantern Lane and did have some issues accessing mailboxes. They also advised that they would try again next week, but were done for today. Due to these circumstances, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to a suspicious person complaint. The caller stated that a group of people had been in front of the apartments for some time and appeared to be suspicious. Upon arrival, Officer made contact with subject. Subject stated that he had just been talking with several of his friends. After determining everything checked okay, Officer returned to patrol.

Injury Crash

US Rt. 42 N

On the stated date and time UCSO Deputy responded to Santa Barbara Drive in reference to an injury accident. Deputy made contact with the caller who stated that while on US 42 in the area of Plain City, several deer ran into the roadway in front of his tan Ford Taurus.  Caller advised that he swerved to avoid the deer causing his vehicle to go into the ditch. Caller stated that he called a friend to drive him home since the vehicle was stuck and his ankle was injured. The vehicle was located on the west side of US 42 at North Chillicothe Street. Deputy stated that he observed no signs of impairment while speaking to subject. The vehicle was secured at the scene.

Domestic Dispute

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a possible domestic. Upon arrival, Officer met with male subject who was sitting on the front porch there. Male subject advised he had yelled at his girlfriend.  Male subject advised she's drunk and fell in their bedroom pulling the curtains down which caused the television remote to fall on his head. Officer then spoke with female subject who advised the same thing.  Female subject advised nothing physical happened and she just wanted to go back to sleep. Both subjects were advised to call if there are any issues. They both agreed to sleep in different rooms until they sobered up. Officer then returned to patrol.

Marijuana

Mckitrick Park

Officer was on patrol when Officer was dispatched to McKitrick Park in reference to drug activity. Dispatch advised that Officer from ODNR was out with Brian Cain and advised he had marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Upon arrival, Officer made contact with ODNR Officer who handed PCPD Officer an evidence bag containing marijuana inside a green plastic container and a multi-colored glass bowl with marijuana residence. PCPD Officer made contact with Brian, his daughter, Sydney Hallam, and her boyfriend.  Brian advised he was about to start smoking marijuana when ODNR Officer caught him. Another PCPD Officer arrived on scene a short time later and advised Brian’s daughter, Sydney had warrants out of Madison Co. Sherriff’s Office in reference to Identity Fraud, Domestic Violence, and Misuse of Credit Cards. Sydney was taken to Tri-County Regional Jail. Brian was issued a Summons for Possession of Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia. See case for further.

Domestic Dispute

North Ave.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, Officer learned subjects are in the process of a divorce and male subject would not let female subject inside of the residence because he wanted his car keys. Officer then learned female subject took male subject’s car keys and drove to another subject’s house and left them there. Female subject advised Officer she didn't want to go look for the keys and that she will wait to give the keys back until they go to divorce court. Male subject was advised to let female subject inside of the residence and was advised of his legal options. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was flagged down by complainant in front of the listed location. Complainant stated that his wife had taken his Buick.  Complainant requested Officer made contact with her via public service and see if she was willing to return the vehicle. Officer then made contact with female subject via public service. Female subject stated that she was having relationship issues with complainant and she would not be returning to the residence today. Officer advised complainant of this and returned to patrol.

Harassment/Menacing

Officer was met at the Police Department by complainant. Complainant stated that she was walking past subject’s house when subject came out on the sidewalk and began verbally harassing her. Officer met subject at her home and she advised Officer that she had been at work from 8:30AM until 11:30AM and was able to provide corroboration. Officer was not able to contact complainant in order to confront complainant on her story due to the fact she did not have a cell phone and she was homeless.  Officer then returned to patrol.

Officers were requested by Madison Co. Sherriff's Office to check for a suspicious vehicle at the listed location. Caller advised the vehicle was an Enterprise rental truck that kept driving up and down the roadway slowly. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. Officers then returned to patrol.
