Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a 911 follow up. Dispatch advised that they spoke with the caller and caller advised it was a pocket dial. Upon arrival, Officer spoke with caller and confirmed everything was okay. Caller thanked Officer for checking and advised everything was good. Upon determining everything to be okay, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a possible counterfeit currency. Upon arrival, Officer met with the caller who advised Officer that he went to deposit money from the sale of a trailer into the bank and the banker advised him that one of the one hundred dollar bills looked strange. The teller advised him that she was going to forward it to be checked out. Caller advised that he spoke with the male by phone after this and the male was going return and provide caller with the now shorted funds. Officer advised caller that since the bank was handling the money Officer would just have an incident report on file. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a reported unknown male behind the dumpster there. Upon arrival, Officer met with the caller who advised Officer that the male is currently behind the shed there and she doesn't know what he's doing. Officer then met with the male who was identified as a tenant and was just cleaning the plastic coating off old wire. Officer advised caller that since subject lives there he has the same rights as the other tenants to use the property. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was flagged down by complainant and advised of a non-injury hit-skip crash. Complainant advised that she had parked her blue 2008 Toyota Yaris in front of her residence and that at about 1100 today a neighbor advised that it appeared that someone had struck her vehicle causing damage to the driver's side mirror. No one actually witnessed the crash, but the neighbor noticed the debris in the roadway at around 1100.

Threatened Suicide

West South St.

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to a suicide threat. The caller stated that subject had made several threats of harming himself with a knife over the phone. Upon arrival, Officer made with subject's father who stated that he thought subject was asleep and that he was unaware he had made any suicidal threats. Officer then made contact with subject who stated that he had made the threats and that he had several suicidal thoughts. Subject agreed to be voluntarily transported to the hospital by Medic to be evaluated. Once subject was transported from the scene, Officer returned to patrol.  A CIT report was completed for this incident.

Traffic Stop

Perry Pike

Officer was on patrol when Officer observed a grey 2018 Hyundai Elantra without any rear lights. The driver also failed to use their turn signal when turning westbound onto Perry Pike. Officer then initiated a traffic stop at Perry Pike and Country View Ln. Officer also observed the registration was upside down on the vehicle. Officer made contact with the driver and advised driver of the violations. Officer checked the front plate registration and it did not return to the vehicle. Officer advised driver the registration returned to another person.  Officer then checked the front plate which returned properly to the vehicle and driver.  Driver was unsure why the other plate was on the back of the vehicle. Officers then escorted driver to the residence, where officers made contact with driver's son who the back plate returned to. Driver's son would not admit nor deny any involvement with the plate being switched from his car, a 1999 blue Chevy Camaro, which was not on scene. Driver's son advised he recently lent his vehicle to a friend and stated they had not returned it. Officers asked if he wanted to report the vehicle as stolen. Driver's son advised he did not want to at this time. Driver was given a warning for all traffic violations and advised the license plate needed to be placed back on her vehicle before it is driven again.

Officer was met on station by unknown subject who advised he found a set of keys on Spaulding Avenue.  Officer was on patrol when flagged down by subject on Spaulding Avenue advising he lost his keys. Officer advised subject that they were at the police department. Officer retrieved the keys and brought them to subject who was standing by on Spaulding Avenue.

On the stated date and time, while on routine patrol, Officer observed an Ohio license plate hanging on a utility pole in front of the listed location. Officer attempted to locate a phone number for the owner but was unsuccessful. Officer requested that the Union County Sheriff's Office attempt to make contact with the owner at his residence. A short time later UCSO Deputy made contact with license plate owner and license plate owner advised that he would be in to pick up the license plate at a later date.  On 07/28/2019 Officer released the plate to owner.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a complaint about videotaping. Upon arrival, Officer met with the caller who advised Officer that every time his kids play baseball behind his residence the neighbors film them. Officer asked caller which direction they are hitting the baseball. Caller replied toward the neighbors. Officer advised caller to have his children hit it towards his own residence and Officer believes that the neighbors would stop recording. Caller thanked Officer for stopping by and requested Officer not talk with the neighbors. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was on patrol when Officer observed a purple Dodge pickup with the driver's side and passenger side doors open in front of the listed location. Officer then checked the vehicle but did not see anyone. Officer made contact with the vehicle owner and advised him how Officer found the vehicle. Vehicle owner advised he must have forgotten to shut it when he arrived home a short time earlier. Vehicle was secured and Officer returned to patrol.

Officer advised while on special duty he was handed a Global Cash credit card.  No name was attached to the card. Officer called the card company's customer service number, but they advised they could not provide proof of ownership. Due to the inability to find an owner, Officer destroyed the card and returned to patrol.

Suspicious Circumstances

Darby Fields Blvd

Officer was advised by Dispatch of a suspicious circumstance that happened several hours prior. Officer then spoke with the caller, who advised she was on a walk in the Darby Fields subdivision earlier in the night. The caller stated an older model SUV pulled up next to her at a fast rate and abruptly stopped. An older male yelled something at her, then opened the door and approached her aggressively. The caller advised her boyfriend and several other neighbors recognized how uncomfortable this male made her, and approached. The male then got into his vehicle quickly and drove away. The caller advised the male did not touch or threaten her in any way but advised his aggressive demeanor and body language made her and several other people feel very uncomfortable. The caller advised she wished to remain anonymous, but stated the whole situation was so bizarre and out of the ordinary that she wanted the police department to be aware.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, Officer met with complainant who advised he and his girlfriend broke up and would like his car back.  Officer further learned both parties put in money and bought the car together. Male subject was advised this is most likely civil, but to contact the correct authorities in Michigan. Officer then returned to patrol.

Threatened Suicide

Officer received a call from complainant who advised Officer that his friend had called him about her ex-boyfriend threatening to kill himself. Officers attempted to contact suspect at his residence, but he was not home. His vehicle was also not present and several residents advised that they last saw him approximately two hours prior. A BOLO and cell phone ping were requested to the Union County Sheriff's Office. Residents were also requested to contact PCPD in the event he arrives home so Officers could check on him.  2226 Hours-Officer spoke with UCSO and learned that Delaware City Police Department made contact with suspect. Suspect denied making any threats to harm himself and stated that he was "bummed out". They advised that suspect did not appear to be a harm to himself and no further action will be taken.

While sitting stationary complainant ran up to Officer's vehicle. advised Officer that he accidentally dropped his keys inside of the vehicle at Dollar General. In doing so, the vehicle locked, trapping his one-year-old daughter. Upon arrival, Officer was able to unlock the door without issue. Complainant advised that his daughter was okay and declined to have her checked out by the medics. Note: The child was very happy and showed no signs of distress. After determining everything to be fine, Officer returned to patrol.

Suspicious Circumstances

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a suspicious circumstance. The anonymous complainant advised that there was a small adult or child dressed up as the Grim Reaper. The subject appeared to be handcuffed to the building. Upon arrival, Officer met with the business owner and his grandson.  The grandson was wearing the costume and was playing in the front of the business. After determining everything to be fine, Officer returned to patrol.

While on routine patrol, Officer observed that the northbound guardrail on Plain City-Georgesville Road at Darby Fields Drive, had been damaged. It appeared that an unknown vehicle struck the guardrail and left the scene. Officer looked around for any debris that may have been left at the scene but was unable to locate any. It is also unclear as to the time frame that this incident occurred. The Street Department was advised of the incident. See media for further information.

Missing Juvenile

North Chillicothe St.

Officer was dispatched to the north entrance of Pastime Park in reference to a missing juvenile complaint. Officer met with complainant who advised that his three grandchildren (whom he has custody of) were missing. Complainant stated the children were told to meet him at the north playground but the children never showed up. Complainant and his wife searched the entire park and were unable to locate them. A few minutes later, the children were located near the horse barn. Officer learned that there was some miscommunication and the children went to the south playground, instead of the north. After determining everything to be fine, Officer returned to patrol.

Upon checking the plate, Officer was able to locate the owner.  Officer then transported the plate to Washington Avenue and met with the owner and returned to license plate. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the Village corp limits on SR 161 East in reference to a driving complaint. The caller wanted to meet with an officer on the parking lot of Little E's Ice Cream. Upon arrival, Officer learned that the call was a road rage incident that occurred near Costco on SR 161 East in Union County. Once assistance was no longer needed, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer responded to the listed location on a parking complaint involving a dark gray Nissan Murano. The employees from the business said that the vehicle had been parked there for over a week and that it was partially blocking a handicap parking space. Officer learned who the vehicle was registered to and contacted the owner.  Vehicle owner agreed to move his vehicle further out into the lot to open up additional parking spaces closer to the entrances to the businesses. He was warned about parking in or partially blocking any handicapped parking spaces.

On the stated date and time Officers responded to the area of  Lantern Lane in reference to a suspicious person complaint. Upon arrival, Officers located Daniel Haynes and Michael Swayne. Upon further investigation, Officers learned that both parties and another male had been breaking into cars in the area. Officers also learned that they had driven a stolen Ford F-150 to the area. Both parties were transported to the Plain City Police Department and then to Tri-County Regional Jail for Theft. The vehicle was towed to the impound lot.  Refer to case for further.
