Traffic Stop

Perry Pike

Officer was on patrol when Officer observed a grey 2018 Hyundai Elantra without any rear lights. The driver also failed to use their turn signal when turning westbound onto Perry Pike. Officer then initiated a traffic stop at Perry Pike and Country View Ln. Officer also observed the registration was upside down on the vehicle. Officer made contact with the driver and advised driver of the violations. Officer checked the front plate registration and it did not return to the vehicle. Officer advised driver the registration returned to another person.  Officer then checked the front plate which returned properly to the vehicle and driver.  Driver was unsure why the other plate was on the back of the vehicle. Officers then escorted driver to the residence, where officers made contact with driver's son who the back plate returned to. Driver's son would not admit nor deny any involvement with the plate being switched from his car, a 1999 blue Chevy Camaro, which was not on scene. Driver's son advised he recently lent his vehicle to a friend and stated they had not returned it. Officers asked if he wanted to report the vehicle as stolen. Driver's son advised he did not want to at this time. Driver was given a warning for all traffic violations and advised the license plate needed to be placed back on her vehicle before it is driven again.

Spaulding Ave.

Officer was met on station by unknown subject who advised he found a set of keys on Spaulding Avenue.  Officer was on patrol when flagged down by subject on Spaulding Avenue advising he lost his keys. Officer advised subject that they were at the police department. Officer retrieved the keys and brought them to subject who was standing by on Spaulding Avenue.

East Main St.

On the stated date and time, while on routine patrol, Officer observed an Ohio license plate hanging on a utility pole in front of the listed location. Officer attempted to locate a phone number for the owner but was unsuccessful. Officer requested that the Union County Sheriff's Office attempt to make contact with the owner at his residence. A short time later UCSO Deputy made contact with license plate owner and license plate owner advised that he would be in to pick up the license plate at a later date.  On 07/28/2019 Officer released the plate to owner.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a complaint about videotaping. Upon arrival, Officer met with the caller who advised Officer that every time his kids play baseball behind his residence the neighbors film them. Officer asked caller which direction they are hitting the baseball. Caller replied toward the neighbors. Officer advised caller to have his children hit it towards his own residence and Officer believes that the neighbors would stop recording. Caller thanked Officer for stopping by and requested Officer not talk with the neighbors. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Plain City-Georgesville and Amish Pike to assist Madison County Sheriff's Office to locate a possible domestic dispute. Once assistance was no longer needed Officers returned to patrol.

Suspicious Circumstances

Converse Ave.

Officer was on patrol when Officer observed a purple Dodge pickup with the driver's side and passenger side doors open in front of the listed location. Officer then checked the vehicle but did not see anyone. Officer made contact with the vehicle owner and advised him how Officer found the vehicle. Vehicle owner advised he must have forgotten to shut it when he arrived home a short time earlier. Vehicle was secured and Officer returned to patrol.

West Main St.

Officer advised while on special duty he was handed a Global Cash credit card.  No name was attached to the card. Officer called the card company's customer service number, but they advised they could not provide proof of ownership. Due to the inability to find an owner, Officer destroyed the card and returned to patrol.
