Officers were dispatched to the area of South Chillicothe Street and Fairfield Drive in reference to a non-injury hit skip crash. Upon their arrival, they made contact with the caller and learned that the caller's vehicle was struck from behind from another vehicle that had left the scene. After further investigation, officers located the other vehicle and the driver, Jaylynn Cahill of Plain City was cited for Failure to Control and Stopping after Accident.

Officer met with caller in reference to his cat being inside a vacant house across from his. Caller advised that the house is being renovated and that the cat must have gone inside when they were last working there. The house was locked and caller advised that he would attempt coax the cat out of an open window or would contact the business renovating the residence.

Officer responded to location in reference to suspicious circumstances. Caller advised she heard what sounded like someone walking on her roof. Upon officer's arrival he observed that there was no one on the roof. Everything was determined to be okay.

Officer responded to location in reference to a theft. Caller stated that a male subject entered the listed location and took two cans of alcohol without paying. Subject was identified and charges are pending.

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Caller advised that a vehicle was sitting in the parking lot for approximately 15 minutes. When caller made contact with the driver to see if he needed assistance, the driver stated that he was playing a game on his phone. Caller stated the male subject seemed suspicious. Upon officer's arrival, he checked the area, but was unable to locate the vehicle.

Officer was dispatched to the location in reference to an identity theft report. Officer met with the caller who stated that she has had eight different lines of credit opened up in her name and has had several unauthorized purchases on some of her credit cards. She stated most of the purchases had come from Lansing, Michigan. Caller was referred to the Ohio Attorney General Office and the FTC to file a complaint and that a police report would be made.

West Main St.
Officers assisted OSP Post 49 with a vehicle pursuit through Plain City. The vehicle came to a stop on SR 161 and the east corporation limits. A felony stop was conducted and the driver, Katie Tussing, was taken into custody without further incident.

Maple St.
While investigating another incident, officers made contact with John Schrader on the corner of Maple Street and West Bigelow Avenue. Officers learned that John had a felony warrant (confirmed) out of Licking County for non- support. John was subsequently placed under arrest without incident and taken to Tri-County Regional Jail.

Officer was traveling in the area of West Bigelow Avenue and Maple Street when he noticed a large amount of trash in the roadway. After further investigation, officer learned that Brian Smith had thrown a trash can at a passing vehicle. Brian was subsequently cited for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Police Department. While at the Police Department, Brian damaged a desk by kicking it. Therefore, he was also charged for Criminal Mischief.

Officer responded to location in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. Caller advised that sometime between 1800 Hrs the previous day and 0900 Hrs today it appeared someone had shot the front windshield of his Dodge with a pellet gun. Caller could not advise on any suspect and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Caller stated that prior to reporting the incident he spoke with all of his neighbors who also witnessed nothing out of the ordinary. Report was taken.

Officer responded to location in reference to a tree limb and met with the caller. Caller advised that a large tree limb had fallen and damaged the roof of his shed. He advised that a piece of the limb about 8 feet long was still in the tree hanging precariously about 30 feet off the ground. He was concerned that the limb may fall and hurt someone or damage a passing car. Caller wondered if the Village Street Department may be able to remove the limb since it is hanging over the road, which they could not. Officer placed cones and a Road Closed sign in the road. Officer also made contact with neighbors and advised them of the limb and the Road Closed signs. The caller later removed the limb.

Officer met with caller in reference to the windows of his business garage door on the west end of building being shot out with a pellet gun. Caller advised that he believed it happened on Saturday or Sunday. Report was taken.

Officer met with caller at the police department in reference to his credit card being used fraudulently. He advised that he had several hundred dollars of unauthorized charges made on his Visa card. Officer was able to determine a suspect and charges are pending.

Officer responded to location in reference to a phone scam and spoke to the caller. Caller advised that they received a phone call from an unknown person who told them that they were having computer problems and would need to allow them to remotely connect to help them. They allowed this and they then installed a file on the computer trying to "help" them, but it was at this time, that they believe this person infected the computer. They were told that virus could be removed, but it would cost $350. During the conversation the caller was able to obtain a number of personal identifiers. They then provided a credit card number to have the virus removed, but then became suspicious as they continued to ask personal questions. They were able to disconnect and then cancel the credit card before payment was made. Caller is protected by Lifelock, but caller did not provide any important personal information. Officer referred caller to the Credit Bureaus and the FTC to help protect themselves.

Officer responded dispatched to location in reference to a 911 hang-up. Dispatch advised that on call back, the caller stated that everything was okay and that the call was accidental. Officer met with caller and confirmed that everything was fine.

US Rt. 42 N
Officer was advised by Union County Sheriff's Office that a driving complaint that their deputy was looking for on US Rte. 33 East was turning south bound on US Rt. 42. Dispatch advised that vehicle was committing a lot of marked Lanes Violations. Officer located the vehicle on US Rt. 42 at West Main Street and observed the vehicle drive left of center two times then partially drive onto the sidewalk nears Schrock Automotive. Officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and the driver, Michael Yates was issued a citation for Marked Lanes.

Officer responded to location in reference to a canine complaint. The caller advised that he was walking in the alley behind this address and a large Rottweiler was jumping up on the fence. Caller was afraid that the dog would end up jumping over the fence and possibly hurting someone. Caller had made contact with the resident / canine owner and advised him of his concerns. The caller informed the canine owner that he might start carrying a baseball bat in the future. The resident told the caller to leave and then also called the Police. Upon Officer's arrival they spoke with both parties. It was recommended to the caller to perhaps choose another route to walk to avoid the issue and that the dog jumping on the fence is not prohibited. Canine owner advised that the dog always jumps on the fence, but cannot get over it.

Officer responded to location in reference to a juvenile complaint. The complainant advised that there were several juveniles playing in the dumpster and also by her vehicle. Upon officer's arrival, they patrolled the area, but was unable to locate any juveniles. Officer met with the caller who stated that there were four juveniles and they were also smoking while hanging around the dumpster. She further advised that the incident occurred approximately 15-20 minutes prior to my arrival.

Officer was notified of an illegally parked van in front of the listed location. Officer located a blue and silver minivan parked in an area where parking is prohibited. Officer made contact with the owner of the van, who was at the residence installing carpet, and advised him of the complaint. Owner moved the van and apologized.

Officer was met at the police department by the complainant who advised that he noticed a fraudulent charge on his Visa card. He advised that he did not authorize this purchase nor did he know who made it. He also said he has not lost possession of his card. He said that a second attempt to use the card was made on 01/06/2016, but was flagged. He said he has already reported this fraud and they will be refunding the money back to his account. Officer obtained other pertinent information regarding the transaction and will follow-up to see if a suspect can be identified.

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to suspicious circumstances. Caller advised that when she returned home she observed that the car alarm for her mother’s car was activated. There was no damage to the vehicle and all four doors were locked. Officer checked the area, but was unable locate anything out of the ordinary.
