Officer received a direct complaint of possible narcotics located on Maple St near Maple Ct.. Upon arrival, Officer checked the area and was able to locate a syringe with a dark-colored liquid narcotic and a cut-up straw with dark-colored residue inside. It was taken to the Plain City Police Department and destroyed. Officer then returned to patrol.

Drunk Driver

After performing a routine registration check on a vehicle, Officer made contact with the driver, Ronald Meddles. After advising dispatch of Ronald’s information, Officer learned that he had an active warrant out of Hilliard Police Department for Failure to Appear out of a Traffic Violation.  Ronald was subsequently issued a citation for OVI, OVI Super Concentration, two Non-Compliance Suspensions, Failure to Reinstate, No Valid Operator’s License, Expired Registration, and Open Container. Officer then transported Ronald to the Costco parking lot, where he was released to Hilliard Police Department’s custody without issue. Officer then returned to patrol.

On this date and time, Officer responded to the listed location on suspicious circumstances.  The caller (anonymous), who was driving by on East Main Street, said that he noticed a sign in the front window of this house that read "HELP."  Upon arrival to the address, Officer observed several Halloween decorations, one of which was the sign the complainant called about.  After determining that the sign was clearly a decoration and that everything was fine, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer observed a damaged light pole on the west side of Nighthawk Drive just south of Alderwood Circle South.  Officer checked the area and located nothing else outside of the ordinary.  Due to a potential safety hazard, Officer placed caution tape around the pole, and Ohio Edison was notified to turn the power off.  On 10-31-2020: Officer made contact with an employee with MI homes who stated that a landscaping company had struck the pole, causing it to fall over. Employee stated that the company reported the incident to him immediately, and it had already been resolved.

Officer observed the sliding passenger door on a black Chevrolet van to be open.  Officer attempted to make contact with the registered owner, but the last known address is no longer valid.  Officer attempted to secure the door, but it would not latch.  Officer made contact with owner, who advised Officer that he had a box of Craftsman hand tools and a multimeter stolen from the van.  Officer canvassed the neighborhood on this date.  Officer spoke with several people who did not witness anything being taken and was also not able to locate any surveillance cameras in the area.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a trespasser complaint. Complainant advised that he arrived home and observed a firepit near his front porch that was lit and didn't belong to him. Complainant agreed to keep it at his residence for the next few days in case someone contacts the police department in reference to a theft report of their firepit. Officer then returned to patrol.  Officer was advised that the owner of the fire pit had been located and inquired about getting it returned.  Complainant stated he would walk it over to the owner's house once he got home from work. Officer relayed this information to the fit pit owner, who advised that would be great.

On the stated date and time, I was on patrol when I observed a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan (bearing OH Reg. GXT2639) parked on the lot after business hours. I then made contact with the driver, Hannah Miller, who was sleeping. Hannah advised she had been driving for several hours and needed to sleep before continuing her drive to Dayton, OH. After determining everything to be okay, I returned to patrol.

Officer attempted to stop a 1995 Honda Accord for multiple marked lane violations and for failure to stop at a stop sign on Perry Pike at Lafayette Plain City Road. The driver refused to stop continuing to move.  Subsequently, Kevin Thompson refused to submit to a breath test and was issued a criminal charge for Failure to Comply (F4). He was also issued a citation for OVI, OVI Refusal, Failure to Reinstate, No Operator's License, Marked Lanes, and Stop Sign He was later transported to the Tri-County Jail.  See case for any additional information.

Officer was flagged down in Pastime Park by complainant who advised that her dog got loose, and her son ran after it.  Complainant advised that she was unable to locate the dog or her son and requested assistance.  Officer located the son with the dog and learned that some other juveniles assisted son with catching the dog and were walking him home.  Mother arrived back at the residence.  Mother stated that everything was fine and Officer was no longer needed.  Officer then returned to patrol.

On the stated date and time, I was dispatched to the area of South Chillicothe Street and West Main Street (the flatiron) in reference to juveniles who were skateboarding in front of vehicles.  Upon my arrival, I patrolled the area but was unable to locate anyone.  A few minutes later, I observed Zaiden Hamid riding a skateboard on North Mechanic Street.  I made contact with him and his uncle, William Williamson, and advised them of the complaint.  Zaiden advised that he didn't think he was going in front of vehicles and stated that he was on Maple Street.  I advised him that he needed to be aware of vehicles when he is skateboarding.  Zaiden advised me that he understood, and I returned to patrol.
