Suspicious Circumstances

Officer responded to the listed location in reference to suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival Officer could hear a loud buzzing sound coming from the substation. Officer then learned that several residences in the area were without power. Officer notified Ohio Edison of the issue. They stated that an employee would be sent out to check on any issues. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff's Office to respond to area of US42N to attempt to locate a suspect vehicle out of hit-skip crash.  Once assistance was no longer needed, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Officer patrolled the area and was unable to locate any other vehicles with multiple occupants. The reporting person did not wish to be contacted upon resolution. Officer then returned to patrol.

Recovered/Found Property

Complainant of the listed location greeted me at the Police Department. Complainant provided Officer with a red purse containing two female wallets. Complainant advised he was not sure how the subject obtained the purse or when. Officer made contact with the owner of one of the wallets via phone concerning the items and learned that the purse was stolen from her vehicle in Marysville, Ohio approximately two years prior. Subject advised that she would retrieve the items from the Police Department sometime during the week.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a road hazard. The caller advised that a large bench had fallen over, was leaning against a dumpster and was hanging partially into the roadway. Upon arrival Officer found the bench leaning into the westbound lane of West Bigelow Avenue. Officer was able to move the bench so that it was no longer a hazard. Officer called and left a message for the owner advising him of the issue. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer responded to the Der Dutchman restaurant in reference to vehicle that was abandoned on the south side lot. Upon arrival, Officer met with the caller and manager of Der Dutchman who advised that vehicle belongs to an employee and they would deal with getting it moved. Upon determining everything to be okay, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to the caller's garage door possibly being open and her not being home. While in route dispatch advised the caller got an alert on her phone that her garage was open. Upon arrival, Officer found the garage to be secure. Officer then made contact with the caller by phone to advise her of the findings. She thanked the Officer for checking it.  Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer met with complainant at the listed location in reference to the theft of a chainsaw.  Complainant was able to find out that the saw had been pawned at the 5th Street Pawn in Marysville. Officer made arrangements with the pawn shop and Marysville Police to have the chainsaw released to complainant. Complainant has declined to pursue any criminal action against the suspect.

Officer was dispatched to the area of US42 in reference to a driving complaint that was northbound on US42. Officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.  After a lengthy conversation with the driver he was released and advised to drive with caution.

SR 736
Officer was requested by the UCSO to look out for a vehicle that was driving recklessly, southbound on US42 headed toward Plain City. Officer located the vehicle on SR 736 and initiated a traffic stop. After speaking with the driver it was determined that he was not impaired. After ensuring everything was okay, Officers returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a non-injury accident. Officer made contact with Michelle Bailey and the other driver. Michelle was subsequently issued a citation for Failure to Yield-When Turning Left (PC ORC 331.17A) and released.

Officer conducted a registration check on a white Chevy Silverado traveling northbound on South Jefferson Avenue near West Avenue. Officer initiated a traffic stop with the and made contact with the vehicle owner/operator and his front seat passenger, Jason Parker.  Jason was subsequently issued a citation for open container. The driver was given a verbal warning for expired registration. See case for further.

Officer was advised of a driving complaint in reference to a gold Dodge Van traveling Westbound on SR 161 just outside the village limits. Officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle driver, Christine Miller. Christine was subsequently issued a citation for OVI and OVI Super concentration.
