Officers were dispatched to the listed location in reference to an assault. Michael Smallwood was arrested and transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail where he was booked in for Assault (ORC 2903.13A). Michael’s charge for assault was later amended to Persistent DOC due to complainant advising he no longer wanted to pursue with charges. Proper paperwork was sent to Tri-County advising of the change.

Officer was requested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office to assist a unit with a consent search stemming from a traffic stop. Officer returned to patrol once assistance was no longer needed.

Officer received an anonymous complaint advising a black Jeep was parked in front of listed location and had not been moved in several weeks. Officer made contact with the vehicle owner who moved the vehicle into her driveway with no issues. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the area of Friend St and W. Bigelow Ave. reference a disabled vehicle. Officer made contact with the vehicle operator, Tyler R Nulph.  He was subsequently cited for Failure to Control (Plain City ORD 331.34A) and Overweight-Use of Local Streets (Plain City ORD339.02A). Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer met with subject at the listed address in reference to a parking complaint. Officer explained to subject that complaints had been received about her parking JALSD Bus at the side of her house on Murlay Drive. She was advised that village ordinance only permitted her to park the bus there for one hour.  She said she was unaware of that ordinance and stated she would not park it there in the future.  She was warned for the violation.

Officer received a call at the police department from complainant who advised Officer that he was visiting his grandmother because she has severe dementia and wanted to know his options for caring for her. Officer meant with several family members and subject upon arrival. Officer provided family members with some information from the Alzheimer's Association that would assist. All family members were advised that when/if subject becomes violent, contact the police department so that we can intervene and get subject help if needed. See CIT Report.

Drug Paraphernalia

Officer was traveling northbound on South Chillicothe St behind a bronze Chevy Trailblazer when the driver of the  vehicle failed to activate its turn signal.  Officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle operator, Jacob Barry and the front seat passenger, Kimberly Barry.  After further investigation it was found Kimberly Barry was in possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Kimberly was issued a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana (ORC 2925.11A), and Drug Paraphernalia (ORC 2925.14C1). Jacob was issued a traffic citation for Failure to Signal (PC ORD 331.14A. Officer spoke with complainant who advised on 2-1-2018 around 0130 hours she heard a loud noise outside her house and when she got to work today her gas tank was empty. Complainant advised she filled her gas tank the night before. Complainant only wanted this incident documented at this time. Officer advised complainant Police would increase patrol in the area.

Officer observed a red Hyundai traveling southbound on South Jefferson Avenue with no headlights. Officer determined that there was an electrical problem with subject's vehicle and the lights would not come on. Subject parked her vehicle on the parking lot and was advised to pick it up in the morning. Officer voluntarily transported subject and her groceries to her residence. After determining everything to be fine, Officer returned to patrol.

Protection Order Violation

Officer observed a blue Ford Expedition towing a dark colored trailer behind it with no registration and no brake/tail lights. Officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle driver, Kenneth Brackett and his passenger. It was later found that the passenger had an active protection order against Kenneth out of Clark County Common Pleas Court. Kenneth was charged criminally for the protection order and issued a traffic citation for Failure to Display (PC ORD 335.09A). Kenneth was transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail and booked in on the above charges. See case for further.

Officer was dispatched to the area of US42 and SR736 in reference a non-injury crash. Officer made contact with Valentine Yutzy who advised that he was the driver of the black Chrysler van and that he struck the barrier on the bridge located on US42. He was subsequently cited for Full Time Attention (Plain City ORD. 331.34C). Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was on patrol on S. Jefferson Ave when he was flagged down by subject on the lot of the listed location. Subject advised that he turned off his van while cleaning it out and was unable to start it because of a dead battery. Officer used the battery charger and subject was able to successfully start his vehicle. Officer returned to patrol once assistance was no longer needed.

Once Deputy arrived on scene and Officer’s assistance was no longer necessary, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference a parking complaint. The complainant advised that a truck with trailer was partially in the roadway. Upon arrival, a black Ford truck was blocking the sideway and approximately 3 feet into the roadway. Officer made contact with subject who then moved the vehicle without incident. Subject was given a warning. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to suspicious circumstances. The caller believed that she was receiving messages via Facebook Messenger that were fraud related.  Closer observation revealed the page she followed was @JasonAldean and the messages that she received were sent from @JasonAldean2.
Caller advised that she knew it was a scam, but wanted the Police Department to be aware of it. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer responded to the listed location on the report of a loose dog that was acting aggressively toward a mail carrier. Upon arrival, Officer met with the canine owner, who checked the backyard and discovered that the dogs had gotten loose through an open gate. Canine owner called for the dogs and they returned coming back from the area of Pastime Park. Subject was given a warning for dogs at large. Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location on the report of a customer who was possibly impaired by drugs and throwing trash from the car into the parking lot. Upon arrival, Officer met with the shift manager who advised that a male passenger began throwing trash out of the car.  Officer looked for trash on the other side of the fence, but there were just a couple items that all looked like they had been there for awhile due to being completely rain-soaked. Officer picked the items up and disposed of them. Due to the report of them possibly being impaired by drugs, Officer gave the vehicle description to MCSO since the vehicle had left southbound on US Route 42.

Officer was dispatched to the area of Noteman Rd. and North Ave. in reference a stray dog. Upon arrival, Officer checked the area, but was not able to locate the canine. Later the canine was located in the same general area and taken back to the police department where it was placed in the kennel. The report was forwarded to the Union Co. Dog Warden. Officer then returned to patrol.

While at the police department, Officer received a call advising that she had just returned home and there was a vehicle in her driveway that she did not recognize. Upon arrival, Officer located a green Toyota Sienna in her driveway. Officer was able to locate the owner who moved her vehicle without incident. Officer returned to patrol.

Upon arrival, Officer met with complainant and his daughter who advised subject(s) created an Instagram post harassing her with derogatory terms. Complainant advised he only wanted the incident documented at this time and he also advised that JAHS has handled the incident in house.

Officer conducted a routine registration check on a silver Dodge Avenger. The registration returned to, Christopher Day, a suspended driver with a confirmed warrant out of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office for probation violation. Christopher was placed in custody for the above warrant and was issued a traffic citation for No Valid OL (ORC 4510.12A1), Non Compliance Suspension (ORC 4510.16A), and License Forfeiture Suspension (ORC 4510.111A). Christopher was transported to Tavern 42 (5200 US 42 N) where he was released to DCSO Deputy. Another PC Officer stood-by with Christopher’s vehicle which was towed to the Plain City Police Department Impound lot.

Complainant stated that there was a white Toyota Avalon parked in the parking lot and she didn't recognize the vehicle. Officer was dispatched to the intersection of West Main Street and Jefferson Avenue in reference to the traffic light malfunctioning. Upon arrival, Officer observed the light was flashing in all directions. Officer was able to reset the light from the power box on the side of the road. Officer stood by for a few cycles and determined that the light was operating properly. Officer then returned to patrol.
