Officer conducted a routine registration check on a blue Toyota Celica.  Officer then learned that the registered owner, Ashley O. Harris, had an expired driver's license.  Ms. Harris was subsequently cited for No Valid OL (ORC 4510.12A).  Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer spoke to complainant via telephone who advised that his neighbor has been verbally harassing/abusive to him.  Officer told complainant that he could tell the subject to not have any further contact with him. Complainant declined this and advised that he would call the police the next time that he has an issue with subject.

Officer was flagged down by a passerby who advised that there were several juveniles that appeared to be throwing stuff in the roadway on South Chillicothe Street. Officer observed a male appear to throw something into the roadway and he ran twice. Officer then spoke with their father,  and advised him of the incident. He apologized and wasn't aware they were doing that. He thanked the Officer for talking with them and Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was on patrol of South Jefferson Avenue near West Avenue, when Officer observed a large green steel tube laying on the northbound lanes white line. Officer removed the tube from the roadway and later transported it to the police department where it could be disposed of. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a non active unruly juvenile complaint. Officer provided juvenile with some techniques to control his anger and also the possible consequences of hitting another family member. Juvenile advised that he understood and would listen to Officer’s advice. Officer then returned to patrol.

Officer was at the police department when Officer received a driving complaint on a red vehicle southbound on South Chillicothe Street. Upon determining everything to be okay, Officer returned to patrol.

Officer was dispatched to the area of Lantern Lane and Doe Street in reference to a soliciting complaint. Officer located the two males, Kyle Jeffers and Marcus Payne, at the listed location.  Both were charged for Soliciting Without a Permit. See case for further information.

Officer conducted a routine registration check on S. Jefferson Ave. near First Flight Auto on a blue Ford Explorer. Officer then learned that the vehicle owner, Daniel Helmuth, was under a License Forfeiture Suspension and also had an Expired Registration since 10-5-2016. Daniel was subsequently cited for License Forfeiture Suspension and Expired Tags. His vehicle was also towed to the Plain City Police Department Impound Lot.

Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a domestic dispute. There was no physical altercation between the two subjects.  Both parties were advised to calm down for tonight and try to discuss the issue civilly tomorrow.  A copy of this report will be forwarded to UCDOJFS due to the children being on the scene.

Recovered/Found Property

Officer recovered what appeared to be an abandoned bicycle on North Chillicothe St near Willow and Twine. The bicycle, a pink Next Strawberry,  had been outside of the location for several weeks. I gathered the bicycle and took it back to the Police Department where it was stored as abandoned property. See media for further.

Traffic Stop
South Jefferson Ave.
Officer observed a red Ford Pick-up Truck towing a black utility trailer that did not have functional stop lights or running lights. Officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the vehicle driver, James McKinster, and the vehicle passenger. After further investigation, it was found James had outstanding warrants out of the Springfield Police Department for Driving Under Suspension and Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. It was also found that James did not have a valid driver’s license. James was placed in custody for his warrants and transported to National Rd, South Vienna, OH, where he was released to the custody of an Officer from the Springfield Police Dept. James was issued a traffic citation for Non Compliance Suspension, No Valid OL and Two Stop Lights required.
Vehicle passenger, a valid driver was advised he could drive the vehicle away.
