Police Report Recap - 11/20/2019

11/20/2019 6:36 PM Injury Crash West Main St. Officer was dispatched to the intersection of West Main Street and North Chillicothe Street in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, Officers observed a female lying in the crosswalk on West Main Street.  Officers learned that the driver, Randy Mahoney, was driving the vehicle northbound on South Chillicothe Street. Randy was turning westbound onto West Main Street.  Randy proceeded to make his turn. In doing so, he struck the female who was walking in the crosswalk.  Female was transported to hospital, by medic,  for possible injuries. Randy was subsequently issued a citation for Right of Way in Crosswalk (PC ORD 371.01A) and released. There was no damage to his vehicle as a result of the accident.  See corresponding numbers for further information.   Approved
11/20/2019 4:48 PM Animal Complaint - Other Gay St. Officer was dispatched to the listed location in reference to a loose canine. The complainant stated that subject's canine chased her children through the alley behind her house. Upon arrival, Officer met with canine owner and advised her of the complaint. Canine owner admitted that her canine was loose, but wasn't aware that it chased any children. Canine owner was given a warning for Confining Dogs. I then returned to patrol.   Approved
11/20/2019 12:35 PM Other Dispute Maple St. Officer responded to the listed location in reference to a disturbance involving an irate customer. Officer was advised that the acting postmaster had asked a belligerent customer to leave but the customer refused. Upon arrival, Officer could hear the customer arguing with the postmaster.  Officer asked customer to speak to him in the outer lobby to explain what was wrong.  Officer told customer that Officer wanted to try to help customer and customer said she didn't call the police for help. Officer told customer that she needed to leave and customer exited.  Officer then spoke to postmaster who said customer was angry that her package hadn't been delivered even though the records show that it was.  Customer became further enraged when postmaster denied customer entry to the secure part of the facility. Officer instructed postmaster to contact PCPD if customer returned causing any problems. Officer then returned to patrol. US Post Office Pending
11/20/2019 12:30 PM Suspicious Vehicle South Jefferson Ave. Officer observed a blue Toyota stopped in the entrance of the listed location. The vehicle was stopped and running, driverless with the windows down. Officer stopped and checked the vehicle and could hear the stereo on, but no one was around it.  A short while later, vehicle owner came out of the Dollar General Store. Vehicle owner advised that she works in the area and had stopped to run into the Dollar General Store. After speaking with vehicle owner, Officer returned to patrol.
