Both parties stated that they had been involved in a verbal dispute but that they would separate for the remainder of the night. The caller advised dispatch the small K9 may be in distress. Upon arrival, Officer met the caller who was standing next to the vehicle. Upon checking the dog did not appear to be in distress. Officer then went into the Der Dutchman and located the dog's owner and advised her of the complaint. Dog owner advised Officer that there is a cup of water in the center console for the dog. Officer advised dog owner that she had forgotten to take the lid off. The dog owner and Officer proceed to her vehicle where she removed the lid and we double checked that dog was okay. Officer observed a green Kia Soul parked near the creek. Officer then made contact with 2 subjects, who were sitting by the edge of the creek. While attempting to locate the car in the parking lot Officer was flagged down by the daughter, who advised Officer that her mother had called her and her two siblings making suicide threats. Officer was able to locate the mother and the father in the south-most parking lot. After speaking with Medic and Officer subject agreed to voluntarily go with Medic to the hospital. The caller advised that a large snapping turtle was attempting to cross West Ave and he didn’t want it being run over. Upon arrival, Officer spoke with complainant and he took Officer to the turtle. Officer was able to successfully capture the turtle in order to return it to a turtle appropriate venue. Officer transported the turtle to McKitrick park where Officer released it into the river. Upon arrival, Officer met with an employee who advised she witnessed subject get gas from the listed location and drive off without paying. Complainant stated she thought it was an accident, as subject tried to pay but the transaction did not go through. Officer then had a Deputy with the Union County Sheriff's Office go to subject’s residence and advise her of the situation. 6/2/2019 | 9:00 PM | Drunk Driver | West Main St. | Officer was dispatched to South Chillicothe Street in reference to a non-injury hitskip crash. Upon arrival, Officer met with the caller and his wife who advised he was driving his 2011 Toyota on West Main Street. As he approached South Jefferson Avenue, he attempted to turn into the turn lane to turn southbound on South Jefferson Ave. the vehicle behind him, a 2005 black Ford, driver by Ted Miller, also attempt to turn into the southbound lane, well before the turn lane actually started. This caused the side passenger mirror of Ted’s vehicle to collide with Toyota driver side mirror. Once this occurred, driver of Toyota attempted to make contact with the Ted, driver of the Ford. Ted did not stop and continued to his residence. After speaking with Toyota driver, Officer made contact with Ted, who informed Officer he did not realize their vehicles collided. While speaking with Ted, Officer observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person. Ted also had glossy, bloodshot eyes, and a slurred speech. Ted also admitted to consuming a few beers while out to eat an hour prior and stated he did not consume any alcohol once he got home. After further investigation, Ted was placed under arrest for OVI and transported to the police department without incident. While at the police department Ted submitted to a BAC test, which resulted in a 0.198%. Ted was cited for OVI, OVI Super Concentrate and Marked Lanes. Ted was advised of his court date was transported back to his residence by Officer. Officer then returned to patrol. | Pending | |
